Film Submission and Awards Information
Vermont's GLBT Liberation Short Films Fest
sponsored by: The Kopkind Colony
underwritten by a grant from the Chessie Foundation
| Kopkind was launched eleven years ago as a living memorial to the late Guilford resident and journalist Andrew Kopkind,
who wrote on politics and culture with a matchless style and depth for national and international publications until his death,
in 1994. The project, which brings together journalists, filmmakers, and activists,
puts on seminars for its resident participants in the summer and hosts a number of public movies and lectures. |

Cineslam 2010 Guidelines for Film Submission:
- Shorts should be original in nature with all rights reserved by the filmmaker.
No copyrighted material should be included unless the copyright owner including all music, stock footage, stills and performances grants permission.
Filmmakers will be required to indemnify Kopkind and the festival, its staff, sponsors and support foundations if any copyright issues are raised by the
inclusion of their short in the CineSlam festival and the Pride of the Ocean Film Festival if their film is selected to be screened.
- Shorts entered in the festival for consideration for an award in each category should be made after 2007.
Extra consideration for inclusion will be given to works that have not yet been shown at other festivals, the internet (YouTube, etc.)
or on television cable systems like LOGO or Here!. However, works will not be excluded if they have appeared on any of those outlets.
For CineSlam, a short film is defined as being no longer than twenty minutes.
There are no entry fees however
if you wish to have your DVD or VHS returned please enclose a self-stamped envelope.
- If selected, the filmmaker/producer will allow the festival to use a minute or less for trailer and promotional videos for the festival on its websites and other promotional Internet sites run by the Kopkind Colony and its sponsors.
Also the festival will be allowed to send a press only reviews copy to reviewers and journalists doing stories on the festival. If the press story is on video, then the filmmaker gives permission for
less than a minute to be used by the press in association with this festival.
Shorts will be programmed and projected on a DVD projection system so a quality DVD will be used for projection.
- While the shorts should have a thematic appreciation towards gender changes, same-sex issues and glbt sexual politics, all filmmakers (amateur or professional)
are invited to participate no matter what their orientation, sex, race, creed or gender identity might be, as diversity is a hallmark of Kopkind.
